Who Benefits from Therapy for Depression?
Depression therapy is for those who are struggling to get out of bed in the morning, find the motivation to get things done like they usd to, and feeling less joy than usual. Folks who are more tired than usual, feeling hopeless, or are having difficulty concentrating would also benefit from depression therapy.
Thoughts of hurting yourself or thinking you were better off dead are also common and can be addressed without needing hospitalization.
The benefits of depression therapy can include finding the motivation to make the positive change you want, changing your beliefs to align with your values, and finding joy in normal, everyday experiences.

How I Work with Depression
As a depression therapist in Denver, I start by taking a nonjudgmental stance to listen completely to your struggles. After we have built a strong therapeutic rapport, I will work with you to identify the symptoms of your depression, how they affect day-to-day life, and when they tend to be the worst.
With everything on the table, I will begin to teach you skills and tools you can use to help you catch yourself when you are feeling depressed, address the depressive emotions, and process them.
I am mindful that depression is sometimes accompanied by thoughts of self-harm and/or suicide. Although I am a mandated reporter in the state of Colorado, this doesn't mean you can't talk about your suicidal ideation without being hospitalized. This is a more in-depth conversation for us to have during a session.
Once you feel like you have the skills and tools to help yourself address the symptoms of depression, we will start taking a look at the root cause of the depression and work with cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness to start undoing the beliefs you hold and create new beliefs that are aligned with the values you wish to live by.
What Does a Session Look Like?
Sessions last for 50 minutes and can be held in person, or via telehealth throughout the state of Colorado.
At the start, I recommend sessions once weekly, and then we can assess later on whether you feel like you need more or less support, and create a schedule based on your needs.
Session Cost and Reimbursement
Each 50-minute session is $160 per session, regardless of in-person or telehealth services. I also work with Mentaya, which is a service that helps you take the superbill I generate for you at the end of each month and reach out to your insurance on your behalf for the best reimbursement rate possible.
